ABOUT / EDITORIAL STANDARDS

A guide you can
check for yourself.

Japan History Guide is designed to make Japanese history accessible without hiding uncertainty, sources or commercial relationships.
01

History in context

We connect dates with causes, consequences, people and places. A clear explanation should show what is well established, what historians infer and what comes from later tradition.

02

Source-led editing

We prioritise archives, museums, public institutions, local governments and official site records. Each event article links directly to the sources used for its chronology and location.

03

Images with usable rights

Portraits and artworks are selected from public-domain or compatible Creative Commons material. The Japanese credits directory records creator, source and licence information.

04

Editorial independence

Travel and book links are visually labelled as sponsored or affiliate content. A commission never changes the historical interpretation or determines which facts are included.

05

Digital tools and review

Digital and AI-assisted tools may support organisation, language work and implementation. Names, dates, places, claims, source links and image rights are checked before publication.
